As a trauma therapist, I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, perfectionism, addiction, emotional/physical/sexual abuse, and various types of trauma. I provide trauma-informed care as a standard, as ongoing research and development in the field, reveals that trauma is at the root of many (if not most!) mental health challenges, both big and small.
In order to promote lasting change in a client’s life, I use a person-in-environment framework, so that progress made in therapy can be reflected in daily life. I believe relationships are central to one’s life journey. This means that while unhealthy relationships may often be the source of mental health troubles, healthy relationships are an essential place where healing begins.
Many people live their daily lives on “autopilot”, unaware of their negative (distorted) beliefs about themselves and their world. These negative beliefs can lead to great suffering when left unchecked.
I provide a compassionate and safe space for clients to explore their inner stories as they progress in their healing. I guide clients in bringing awareness to their thoughts and challenging cognitive distortions. I have also been trained as a yoga teacher and understand that emotions are held in the body, often causing chronic stress and tension. I combine a variety of therapeutic modalities with body movement to guide clients in alleviating these emotions that have been pent up in the body.
I make it my responsibility to stay up-to-date with developments in the field by regularly attending trainings, courses, and conferences throughout the US.
